Jessica Konzer Birdwell, LVMT, LVMT, VTS (Anes)
Jessica began her career working at a small animal general practice in Michigan while seeking a liberal arts degree in biology. She stumbled upon the veterinary technology profession in her senior year at Albion College in Albion Michigan. After completing her bachelor’s in arts, Jessica continued her education in Purdue University’s veterinary technology program in West Lafayette Indiana. Upon graduation she returned to Michigan to work for a specialty/referral hospital in the neurology, surgery, and ICU department. It was here that her passion was ignited for anesthesia. This passion led her to the University of Tennessee where she currently works in the small animal anesthesia department as the veterinary technician supervisor. In October 2010, Jessica successfully passed her boards to become one of a limited number of veterinary technician anesthesia specialists in the world. Jessica thrives on anesthetic cases involving respiratory distress and cardiac abnormalities. Jessica is an active member of the Academy of Veterinary Technicians in Anesthesia and Analgesia, the Tennessee Veterinary Technician Association, and the National Veterinary Technicians Association. Her primary goal as a technician specialist is to become an avid lecturer for technician associates around the country and to promote animal welfare.
