Sandra Allweiler, DVM, DACVAA

Dr Sandra Allweiler graduated from Ludwig- Maximilian University in Munich, Germany and received her Dr. med-vet degree from the University of Zurich, Switzerland in 2001. The same year she started a large animal anesthesia internship at New Bolton Center, the Large Animal Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. In 2005 Sandra completed a three-year residency in veterinary anesthesia at the Royal Veterinary College in London, UK. Sandra worked as a clinical instructor at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Canada before she accepted a position at Colorado State University.After 9 years at CSU she joined the University of Minnesota anesthesia service in 2016. She is Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia & Analgesia. Her interests are in pain management (especially geriatric and cancer patients) and wildlife anesthesia. She is certified in medical veterinary acupuncture and canine massage and canine rehabilitation and since 2017 the Director of the rehabilitation service at the University of Minnesota. She lectures nationally and internationally on pain management, acupuncture and wildlife anesthesia. Sandra is a member of the Association of Veterinary Anaesthetists, the American Association of Wildlife Veterinarians, and the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. Outside of work Sandra enjoys photography, hiking, traveling and most important spending time with her family.
